Areaworks Board Game Night
Coworking is not only about the physical place, it is about establishing a coworking community. We believe in opening up communities that inspire progress and open up opportunities. We design our spaces to feel open, to encourage collaboration and productivity, to inspire people to think differently.
In the sprit of community building and collaboration, we think there is little better than a classic board game! If you were born pre-generation Z, then you will know that there was no better way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon than playing a fun board game. Everyone has those vivid memories of a family favourite board game which brought so much excitement (and friendly competition) to the household!
There are a plethora of classics that will always stay close to our hearts! From Monopoly to Cluedo, Trivial Pursuit to Scrabble, and let’s not forget the excitement that came with the likes of ‘Mouse Trap’. This game was almost more fun to set up than it was to play! With that rubber-band spring-loaded arm, and the plastic dude who jumped into the “pool” – what’s not to love? And no list of board game classics would be complete without the describing game ‘Guess Who?’ Is it a Man or a Woman? Does he have ginger hair? Does he have a moustache? So many possibilities, endless fun!
Playing board games is a great way to get together with friends and family; they enhance relationships, reduce social anxiety, and are a great way to relax and have a laugh (unless your competitive streak takes over). These days, nostalgic board games are making a come back, breaking through the tech focused environment we find ourselves in. More and more board game cafes are popping up around London in an effort to bring back this good, old-school fun. In the spirit of nostalgia, last month, we collaborated with Cakes and Ladders to host our very first board games night at Areaworks Manor House.
Cakes and Ladders are a London based social enterprise and cafe. They run regular board games events and well-being sessions for people living in the community using mental health services. These sessions promote positive well-being and encourage those who experience social anxiety, to meet new people.
We had a great time at our first collaborative board game event. Good vibes, socialising, drinking endless coffee, beers and most importantly, a fantastic choice of over 50 board games to play! We are happy to announce that we have another board games night taking place on Thursday 21st June at Areaworks Manor House. Check out all the details here and be sure to sign up. Save the date and spread the word – bring along friends and family for endless hours of fun!
