If you think you’re too busy to meditate, chances are you should be meditating! It is proven that even as little as five to ten minutes of meditation each day will relieve stress in addition to providing benefits such as having a clearer mind and improved memory. Here at Areaworks we encourage wellbeing, and we believe meditation is integral for a healthy mindset. We’ve designed our spaces to offer everything that you need to make coworking as comfortable as possible, including ‘break out’ zones that can be used when you are in the need of a ‘quiet’ moment. There a few types of meditation techniques which particularly help more with productivity. Here are a few suggestions on what you could try out even in work or at home.
Guided meditation is one of Kat (our super community representative’s) favourite techniques. This is simple narrative which you follow as you meditate, which can either be in form of a recorded voice or even a meditation teacher to guide you through your journey. You’ll find that these exercises involve focusing on your breath or taking you on a visual journey to a peaceful environment.

It is suggested that you should do this meditation either first thing in the morning or just before you go to sleep. Great meditation apps you can download are Headspace and Calm, which are popular choices amongst meditation enthusiasts.
Guided meditation is proven to help gain a new perspective on stressful situations and not only that, it also increases imagination and increases tolerance and patience.
Another technique that increases productivity is mindful meditation which derives from the teachings of Buddhism. This is also an easy form of meditation which aims to improve the level of awareness of the present moment. This is done by focusing on the thoughts of the self and surroundings without judgement.
We recommend that you try this exercise for 10 minutes as a good way to get started.
Most people feel that finding the time to meditate is actually the hardest thing. Meditation teachers say that the perfect moment to meditate is when you are busy. Taking time out when you are in the midst of a busy or stressful day can increase your focus, help to tune out distractions and stop any negative thoughts you may have. It will help you to move away from time-wasting activities and just basically make you feel great. Learning to get the most from meditation will take time and practice but what’s important is to find a space where you can switch off and focus on yourself.
