Time really does fly doesn’t it? It seems like only yesterday we were sat with laptops on our knees working on cardboard boxes. So far 2018 has been a hectic and exciting year for Areaworks; our community is bigger than ever, as are our ideas. With all these big plans on the horizon we needed yet another new Community Rep to join our ever-expanding family. You’ll find our newest recruit, Silvija in our Manor House space bringing our community together, sprucing up our space, and adding ideas to our rapidly growing list! Here’s Silvija to tell you her story.
Hello! My name is Silvija and I am Areawork’s newest Community Representative. I like to think of myself as an explorer, someone who loves to get to know new places and new people, and more so than ever wonder about by myself. This is how I ended up in London and started my journey with Areaworks.
As you may have guessed, I’m not orginally from London and that is why this is such an amazing adventure for me. I’m Latvian and despite my love for the big city, my heart will always be with nature. Suggest a hike or a trip to the park and I’m there! I am also always open to any activities involving music; a nice tune to dance to, sing or just chill to.
When I am far away from the outdoors I can be caught doing some more creative things. Lately, I’ve been working a lot with textiles, designing all sorts of patterns. If you come by our Manor House space, you might even see me wearing one of my own designs. Photography is my other love and I’ve been enjoying capturing images ever since I got my first camera when I was 14.
My shots are mostly of nature and I’ve experimented a lot with macros in the past but I’m getting more and more interested in street and portrait photography. It seems like in the end it is mostly just about people, surroundings and finding inspiration through these things.
But Silvija, I can hear you asking, nature, textiles, forests, where does coworking fit in to all of this?
Coworking has been a huge interest of mine for as long as I knew it was a thing. I love the idea of like-minded people all coming together and creating a community where there was none before. Also, discovering what makes a workspace tick and how different elements can be brought together to create something much greater than its parts.
For every space I’m a part of, I envision it being a place where people can connect and expand their creative horizons while also being functional enough to get things done. I guess what excites me the most about working at Areaworks is making all of that happen as well as growing together with the space and the community.
If you want to get to know more of the team, have a read of our previous blog posts. Meet Kat, our Hackney Community Representative, Jude our Commercial Director and our Community Manager Emma. If you would like to pop in for a chat or a cuppa, book a tour of any of our spaces to arrange a viewing.
