Previously members in our Hackney branch, the amazing AVA Experience has now moved into our Farringdon space. The AVA Experience team have been an amazing addition to our coworking community, taking part in our social events and immersing themselves in all our activities. Without further ado, here is AVA Experience to tell us more about their business.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your business
We’re AVA Experience and we auction unique experiences. You need to be invited to be a part of AVA but once you’ve secured membership you’ll enjoy London’s best unique experiences, whilst only paying what you think they’re worth.
We work with all kinds of experiences; restaurants, bars, gyms, classes, festivals and more. It’s a fun business to be involved in!
What are you working on now and why are you doing it?
We’re working on the relaunch of our platform, which includes completely new tech and some brilliant new experience partners – watch this space!
What would you like to achieve in the next few years?
Our goal is to grow in London before becoming the one-stop-shop for the best experiences in the world!
How did you manage to get your business off the ground?
Hard work and a lot of thinking! And the fact there were the two of us really helped – we take our hats off to solo founders.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
There have been plenty! I think it’s probably the constant battle of deciding where best to spend your time. There’s always so much to do and deciding what to prioritise is tough but very important to get right.
What’s our greatest achievement to date?
That’s a tough one. Whether it was launching and running our MVP whilst working part-time or closing our first funding round, there’s plenty to be proud of but plenty still to do!
What do you love about your job?
The fact we get to get involved with some amazing experiences. It’s great fun.
Why did you decide to join Areaworks?
A number of reasons. The location is great for us, it’s got all we need and the other members and staff here make coming in every day a pleasure.
What in your opinion is the key to your success so far?
Other than saying hard work I think a strength of ours is working to targets and deadlines. If we set ourselves a goal we make sure we get there.
Are there any things you do to relax and balance yourself after a hard day’s work?
We try and get some exercise in whether that’s going to the gym or for a run, I certainly find it always energises me when I exercise and I should do it more.
Is there any advice that you’d give to yourself when you were just starting out?
Trust your own judgement but take as much advice as you can. It’s really important to get different perspectives but at the end of the day, it’s up to you what decisions you make. Trust yourself when you make them.
