Spotlight – Mike Scott
Our Areaworks Hackney space has been buzzing with an influx of new clients over the past couple of months. As our members are at the heart of our community, we are continuing with our spotlight series showcasing all the amazing things that our members do. This month, we have shone the spotlight on our areaworker Mike Scott, a newbie to our Hackney coworking space. This friendly Aussie brings so much positivity to our coworking office, so we wanted to know a little bit more about him! Without further ado, here is Mike!
Mike has only been with Areaworks for just just over a month, but already feels like part of the family! Originally from Australia, he now lives in London and has been here for the past 6 years. Mike works for a startup company called Datamantis, where he works as Developer/ Product Manager. Mike is a big lover of the East London lifestyle: good food, drink and events (if you ask us, what’s not to love?)
Curious about his company ‘Datamantis’, Mike explained what they are currently working on. “They are working on building enterprise AL and data solutions to lead the industry in terms of effectiveness and ease-of-use”. Building a business from scratch has been a positive challenge for Mike, with each day bringing new experiences and plenty of opportunities to learn! The freedom of working away from a corporate environment has been amazing for him.
We asked Mike what he would like to achieve in the next few years, “Our business has a huge potential reach, so I would love to see it grow. It would be an amazing feeling to grow something from nothing into a functioning business.”
Coworking offices have done wonders for startups like Mike’s. He kindly shared his comments on why he joined Areaworks.
“I joined Areaworks because it is a real community location, it’s located in my neighbourhood and not a centralised ‘office’ area. I also love that it is a productive place to work – a lot of other coworking spaces seem to be more about socialising than working, but at Areaworks I really feel productive.”
To round off our time with Mike, we asked him for his top tips on how to achieve work-life balance after a long productive day of work. For Mike, he likes to keep physically active by training 3 to 4 times a week. In the past, he used to sprint during his school days, and still keeps that up today. He says this is his way to unwind from work.
